Deane Lam, Founder of LamSquare
I didn’t set out knowing exactly where I’d land—until, after finishing my studies in Winnipeg, I stepped into a career in telecom engineering. It threw me straight into the deep end: managing cross-functional projects, rolling out changes across global branches, and aligning systems across complex organizations. That experience grounded me in process improvement, system redesign, and large-scale implementation—and sparked a lasting curiosity about how systems, people, and ideas really work together.
I realized everything comes down to people. Change doesn't happen in spreadsheets—it happens in conversations, in resistance, in relationships. Then I went to San Francisco, where I deepened my studies in organizational psychology and conflict management. I wanted to better navigate the human side of structure and strategy, and learn how to support change that actually sticks.
By 2007, after years in the field, I founded LamSquare Consultant—a platform to do the kind of work I believed in: supporting organizations not just to function, but to evolve. Based in Macau, I extend my work across cities in Greater China, working across industries and cultures. Every client brings something different, and I love diving into their world—especially where there’s complexity, conflict, or uncertainty. That’s where clarity and courage matter most.
Today, Melbourne is my second home. I continue my work as a trusted strategic partner to long-term clients who’ve grown alongside me. We’ve walked through change together, challenged each other, and built relationships that last beyond any single project.
I then extended my passion into the education sector—serving as a School Council President and leading the Parent Association. I believe no matter where we are in life, there’s always something more we can do for others.
I love what I do. I always believe I—or we—can do more. Whether someone has a clear vision or just a few scattered thoughts, I guide them to connect the dots. My role is to ask the right questions, hold the space for insight, and support people and systems to move forward—always with purpose, and always with heart.
